Desire about anything is not a sin in itself but chasing of desire leads ultimately to destruction. The Gita ( a Hindu scripture) describes the result of chasing of desire as follows,
For a person thinking of the sense objects there grows an attachment for them; from attachment arises desire; from non fulfilling of desire arises anger; from anger results delusion; from delusion results confusion of memory; from confusion of memory results destruction of intelligence and from destruction of intelligence a man perishes.
Through advertisements and media human mind is bombarded with ideas and stimulas for desire and material pleasure. As a result even after practising meditation and thousand other means to cool us , no happiness or contentment is achieved because of this limit less desire.
Let us decide for ourselves a middle point between two extremes viz. limitless desire and no desire at all.
